Angela Schwickert, award winning composer-pianist, has committed her life to the arts. A prolific songwriter, she has composed work for a wide range of ensembles, and her music has been performed in Europe and in the United States. Her album, Follow My Piano Music, was released to wide acclaim in 2014. Her second album, Dreaming life...live in concert, was released in 2018. In addition to her successful collaborations with visual artists Ari Lankin and Tina Nyenhuis, she also composed the score for The Ariadne Songs, with a libretto by the poet-dramatist Carey Scott Wilkerson. This major new work had its world premiere in December of 2014 at the Staller Center for the Arts at Stony Brook University in New York. A new, larger production was played in October 2016 at Columbus State University’s River Center for the Performing Arts, just outside Atlanta. This operetta, The Ariadne Songs, was produced in Frankfurt with the Junge Oper Rhein - Main in January 2018. She is also the composer of the new opera The Rescue, libretto by Carey Scott Wilkerson, a retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth. Since 2019, you can find Angela Schwickert in Renee Fleming's database of living composers. Audiences and critics alike have praised her music's compelling fusion of virtuosity, wit, and lyricism. She holds a Master's degree in Music and Piano Performance from Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, and studied with Agathe Wanek, a student of Nadja Boulanger.

The Ariadne Songs in Stony Brook, New York
Carey Scott Wilkerson, poet and dramatist, is author of two poetry collections, Threading Stone and Ars Minotaurica. In 2013, his play, Seven Dreams of Falling, premiered to national acclaim in Los Angeles and is published by Black Box Press. He is author of the libretto for The Ariadne Songs, a collaboration with the composer Angela Schwickert. His plays, Ariadne in Exile and The Lydian Mode are published, respectively, by Negative Capability Press and Otoliths. He has twice received a Writing Fellowship from the Lillian E. Smith Center for Creative Arts and has been a Visiting Writer at Clayton State University, the University of South Alabama, and the University of Mississippi. He is editor of an anthology of Georgia poetry, to be published by Negative Capability Press in 2015. He holds a BA and an MA from Auburn University and an MFA from Queens University of Charlotte. He teaches at Columbus State University.
